Champions League legends, 2000–2026
SimCL's draft pool covers Champions League football from the 2000–2026 era, and every footballer arrives with the historical club and season he's tied to.
That means you're not just picking a name. The same player can appear as different draft options from different seasons and different clubs, so choosing which version of a legend joins your all-time Champions League XI is part of the strategy.
Historical Champions League teams
Your opponents aren't generic generated clubs. The tournament pool is built from historical Champions League teams and seasons, each carrying a rating and a strength tier.
Those tiers shape difficulty: stronger sides tend to survive deep into the knockouts, weaker ones rarely do — but upsets stay possible. Because the draw and opponents change between runs, no two tournaments feel identical.
How the full tournament works
You don't just build a team here. You test it.
Complete your XI, enter the group stage, work through the knockout rounds, reach the final and try to win the Champions League.
- Opponents are drawn by the existing simulation system, weighted by rating and tier
- Matches are simulated over 90 minutes
- Level knockout ties go to 30 minutes of extra time
- Still level? Penalties, with sudden death, decide it
- Your formation and strict position rules stay in effect throughout
Can your XI win the Champions League?
Lifting the trophy is the whole point — and it's not guaranteed. Every run starts in the group stage, and finishing outside the top two ends it there.
If you go out, the result screen shows exactly how far your team got: the round, every scoreline and your squad's numbers. Then you can come back with a different XI and try again.
FAQ
- What is the Champions League Draft Simulator?
- It's a free browser game from SimCL where you draft an all-time Champions League XI from legendary football players and then test that team in a full simulated tournament. No download, no account.
- Which Champions League players can I draft?
- Players from the 2000–2026 Champions League era, each tied to the historical club and season they played in — so different seasons of the same footballer are different draft options.
- Can I choose my formation?
- Yes. You can play 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 3-5-2 or 5-3-2, and players are only offered for positions they actually fit.
- What's the difference between Quick Draft and SimDraft?
- Quick Draft generates a random XI instantly so you can go straight to the tournament. SimDraft has you build the team position by position, spinning the ball for players suited to the slot you're filling.
- Which teams can I face in the tournament?
- Historical Champions League teams from the pool, weighted by their rating and strength tier, with recently faced opponents deprioritised so the draw stays varied.
- Does the tournament start from the group stage?
- Yes. Every run begins with a group stage; the top two advance to the knockout rounds, and from there it's straight elimination through to the final.
- Can my team lose?
- Yes. You can go out in the group stage or in any knockout round — results come from the simulation, based on squad strength plus variance, so no XI is safe.
